What is California Medi-Cal Program?
California Medi-Cal Program (www.Medi-cal.ca.gov) is a low cost insurance for children and teens, who do not have insurance or do not quality for no-cost Medi-Cal. It offers comprehensive health, dental and vision care coverage through selected insurance plans. And you only need to pay a co-payment of $5 – $15 at the time of services for children’s benefits.
How to apply for California Medi-Cal Program?
First, go to the Medi-Cal Eligibility and Enrollment website to see if your children are qualified for the program. If yes, download a Medi-Cal application and fill out it. Then mail your completed form to the address provided.
Second, visit the website or call 1-800-880-5305 to check your application status often. You will receive a receipt of an application in 7 business day. Within 20 days from the receipt of the application, you will learn whether you are approved.
Finally, if you’re approved, you can enroll in the Medi-Cal Program Remote Payments Online Service and make a one-time payment or set up monthly automatic payments to your Healthy Families account using your credit card.
