We purchased (4) four Michelin tires and would have bought them even without the rebate, but that was the clincher to buy them from DT and not another local company who had them but priced them higher.

Our rebate code was 26078, purchase date 07/17/2012, invoice #1352135 and the store was in Santa Fe, NM @1366 Cerrillos Road.

The whole rebate deal is usually rife with opportunities for companies to not pay up, so after a few months of waiting, I double checked on the rebate status. Sure as hell, they refused our claim despite filling it out in a timely fashion and submitting everything exactly as instructed to do so.

Companies rely on our hectic lives getting in the way of remembering to keep checking on the status of our rebates. Personally, I’d rather just get an instant price drop even if its less than the amount of the rebate, but I try to have faith that with all the complaints about rebate scams companies will start honoring their end of the bargain.

Not sure if posting this will help, but it feels better to know that its a systematic problem with all companies playing the rebate card game.

I just bought 4 Michelin tires and submitted online for rebate today, feb 21, 2013 . I paid for these tires using a credit card, and will dispute the charge if the rebate is not received in a timely manner. I strongly suggest everyone pay with a credit card [NOT a debit card] to retain some leverage with any company.

I purchased 4 Michelin defender tires for my 2011 HHR from Discount Tire and at the time there was a $70.00 rebate on the purchase of 4 Defender tires . I waited at least 6 months and never did get the rebate. The store was out of the tires when I paid for them ,when they came into the store (approx. 2weeks) I got them mounted and off I went. A couple months went by, I inquired about the rebate and was told that it expired by the time the tires came in ????WTF I don’t think this is good business, I just bought and paid for upgraded tires and new wheels for another vehicle , 2 separate rebates , we shall see , I hope Discount Tire has the rebate thing straightened out, otherwise it turns into false advertising.

I got screwed by Discount Tires’ rebate promise also. On 8/28/13 (3 days before the promotion ended) I submitted on-line for a rebate for 4 Pirelli tires. I was told to expect my rebate in 3-4 weeks from date of submission. Since 9/5/13, the status showing on the rebate website shows that my card was printed on 9/4/13 and will be sent out within 3 – 4 weeks. Today is November 24, 2013 and I have yet to receive my gift card. Mid-October I contacted them to see if there was an error with their website, pointing out what was reflected on their website. They lied and told me that it had been sent out but they would send another right away. 2 weeks later I called when I hadn’t received it and the website still reflected the same information. The person answering the phone was rude and told me I needed to wait 4 more days, since it had only been 10 days since it was mailed out. I still have not received my VISA gift card rebate and the website still says it was printed 9/4 and would be mailed out in 3 – 4 weeks. Today is November 24th. The $70 VISA gift card they screwed me out of will cost the company much more than that in lost sales. Evidently the “brains” behind the rebate scams haven’t heard how many people that heard about the ripple effect of unhappy customers.
